Why join our Board of Directors?
Being on the Board is a great way to serve your community, support access to healthy food & guide our co-op into the future. You get to work with a team of co-op owners dedicated to the store’s success.
What does the Board do?
Directors provide oversight via internal monitoring reports, create a vision for the future, increase owner engagement, and work with the General manager to guide the co-op forward.
What the Board does not do?
The Board focuses on high-level concerns and does not focus on operational details.
What are Board Members required to do?
Board Member terms are three years long. There is a monthly board meeting held with the general manager, all board members are expected to attend. The board also has five committees: policy governance & bylaws, owner engagement, nominations, GM performance & pay review & finance. Board members are required to join one committee and participate in committee activities. Board members are expected to attend the annual owners meeting, as well as the ½ day board training retreat held in August. General time spent on board duties is 5-10 hours per month.
Are Board Members compensated?
Our board members receive a 15% discount off all purchases at the co-op. Board members also receive a meal at each monthly board meeting. Being on the board is great professional experience, we offer training, workshops & conferences as part of board service.
