What inspired you to serve as a board member?

I really have an interest in our food chain and in sustainable growing and marketing - and wanted to learn about the Co-op model and how it integrated the two. It was also a chance to build a community for myself as a recent transplant to the Triad (May 2020).

Most valuable Co-op Principle?

Ownership - the collective aspect of the market and not having my food store feel like a monolithic corporation that I can't reach out and actually touch.

Favorite product at Deep Roots?

I love the local produce, dairy (lots of great yogurt choices), and eggs. And although not a big meat eater, the providers we use are top-notch (when I do want it!).

Where do you see Deep Roots Market in 10 years?

I'd love to see more locations in NC - spreading the same mission of cooperative living and local involvement.

Future plans you're excited about?

We are really working on more owner engagement, and helping folks understand just why Deep Roots Market exists. We're hoping to be even more visible ambassadors of the market, and all it stands for. We're very lucky to have a place like Deep Roots Market.
