Sarah Franklin was a beloved staff member who had a passion for coffee and truth. The combination of her two passions revitalized the Organic and Fair Trade coffee bar at Deep Roots Market. The real truth behind coffee production worldwide is startlingly unjust and that is why we only use and sell Fair Trade and Organic coffee at Deep Roots Market. She recreated our coffee and training programs and made us operate better with her dedicated passions.

We lost Sarah suddenly to an unfortunate medical incident. Her loss devastated the team as well as her dear family. Sarah’s family helped raise money for the Co-op during a capital campaign in 2019, just after she passed. That portion of the money was put into much-needed equipment for the coffee bar and funded our Organic Smoothie Program.

Sarah’s memory lives on at the Co-op and reminds us to always be passionate about Fair Trade and exposing the truths of the food industry, which tends to exploit people, land, and precious resources. We hope that Sarah also inspires you to vote with your dollars in support of Fair Trade practices and Organic Farming, which both make the world a better place for all.
