PROGRAM UPDATE EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 2022

Our LIMe Program was established as a means to offer healthy food at a discounted price to folks in our community that need a little help. Another great benefit of the LIMe Program is that it offers a pathway to Ownership that spreads the payment over years. This way anyone can become an owner without money as a roadblock. We love this program and it has been an example for other Co-ops nationwide to adopt.

In the grocery industry, the margin is very small and every penny counts to cover our basic costs of existing. This is why we use the Round Up Program to help offset part of that discount. In the beginning, the Round Up Program gave us enough of a surplus that we were able to do quarterly Fundraising for local Non-Profits. Times sure have changed.

Since the pandemic broke out, the LIMe Program has seen a huge surge in usage. The discounts far surpass the Round Up dollars and we have been experiencing a significant loss since. The LIMe Program was set up to be able to change the discount percentage if needed. We have avoided it and taken a loss thus far. We can no longer afford the current discount amount and will be changing it to 15% for the time being. This could go back up to 20% or be reduced even further if needed. Donations and Round Up dollars are part of the process and success of the program.

For those of you who can afford it, please consider donating to this wonderful well used, and much-needed program. For those of you who count on that discount, please know that it pains us to reduce it and we would not do it if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. Please know that with our Co-op Deals, Co-op Basics, and bulk shopping opportunities, there are still plenty of great deals in addition to that discount that you will continue to receive.
